We have finally been able to nail down the band schedules and have posted them (please click on the menu items for the day that you are interested in, to find the band). In addition to those bands, the following Pipe Bands will also be present:

27th Annual Irish Festival Announcement!

The parishioners of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church invite you to the 27th Annual Irish Festival, March 24 and 25, 10:00-7:00 p.m. on Saturday and 10:00-6:00 p.m. on Sunday. The festival begins on Saturday with the St. Patrick’s Parade and continues with a 4-block street fair in front of St. Patrick’s Church on North 25^th Street between Broad and Franklin Streets on Historic Church Hill.

More than 45 traditional Irish musicians, local bands, dancers, and bagpipers will perform on two stages throughout the weekend. Sponsored by Guinness, this year’s line-up includes Uisce Beatha, The Janet Martin Band, The Bart Chucker Band, Tinkers Damn, Echolalia, Powder Keg, Haze and the Transients, and many other local favorites. Celtic/Irish crafts and merchandise, family fun, children’s games in a huge kid’s area, food, refreshments, and more.

The inaugural Hill Topper 5k Race will kick off at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 25. The race through the Historic Church Hill neighborhood will begin and end at 25^th and Broad Streets, and will benefit the neighborhood and The Robinson Theater. Come out and run with us!

A $2.00 donation will be requested at the gate.

Free Shuttle parking located at 16^th and East Broad Streets.

Proceeds benefit St. Baldrick’s Society, St. Francis Home, Little Sisters of the Poor, Church Hill Crime Watch, Child Saver’s Clinic of Richmond, St. Peter’s Meals Program, The Conrad Center, Stone Circle of Friends, Cullather Brain Tumor Quality of Life Center at Bon Secours, St. John’s Church, Prevent Blindness Virginia and many other neighborhood causes, and St. Patrick’s Church, “a little church with a big heart,” built in 1859 by Irish immigrants.

2012 Event Scheduled!

The 2012 Church Hill Irish Festival has been scheduled for March 24 and March 25! We are still working through the event details, so more news to follow in February.

The festival is a go, regardless of the weather. Below are the times for those interested:

Saturday, March 26 : 10 am to 7 pm

Sunday, March 27 : 10 am to 6:30 pm

As with last year, a $2 donation will be collected at the gates.

A Local Country Legend Passes

The organizers of the Irish Festival are sad to report that the country musician Page Wilson has passed on to the great music hall in the sky. Page did a lot for the young musicians in the Richmond area for many, many years. He had always been a supporter of the Irish Festival and lent a hand at many of our events. He is missed by many here on the Hill and we would like to dedicate the 2011 Church Hill Irish Festival in his honor and name. Take care, Page.

2011 Irish Festival in the Works!

The team of volunteers has started to work on the particulars of the 2011 Church Hill Irish Festival in Richmond, Virginia. We have a full slate of bands and other entertainment in the works and more on that will be coming soon.

For now, we can only confirm the dates, so mark your calendars for March 26 and March 27 and check back soon!
